My Work Says I Am Not Allowed To Get Lasik. Why Is this?

While LASIK Eye Surgery has a phenomenal track record of success, there are some industries which require special approval before their employees are allowed to pursue the procedure. Call it being safe or conservative, but if you work for certain industries, you may need prior approval before you're allowed to correct your vision problems.

Until recently, the United States Military was one of these employers. However, the recently changed their mind, saying that certain employees would be given special permission to undergo LASIK Eye Surgery, as judged on a case by case basis. This was a revolutionary change in their policy, and one that reflected the tremendous recorded results of LASIK, and the history of stellar patient testimonials.

Still, other employers, such as some Aviation companies, private sectors of specialized security personnel, and some professional sports and entertainment companies still require that anyone working for them attain permission before undergoing the procedure.

If you're employed by a company which requires certain permission to get LASIK surgery, the important thing is to do your due diligence. Show the research that demonstrates the fantastic results. Also, consider going for a consultation, so you can provide documentation showing that you are an ideal candidate for the procedure.
