I am nearsighted. Is LASIK right for me?

Nearsightedness, also known as myopia, is a common vision problem for which LASIK is a great option. Lasik eye surgery has become one of the most popular treatments for the correction of myopia, and patients who have undergone the LASIK procedure to correct myopia rave about the tremendous results. Most patients who have gotten LASIK to fix myopia are able to function in their daily lives without the need for glasses or contacts at all!

For those patients whose myopia is too severe, have abnormally thin corneas, or have concomitant issues that prevent them from getting LASIK surgery, there are some alternatives. Just recently, a new type of implantable contact lens made of a polymer substance was found to be effective in correcting myopia in the majority of patients who were not ideal candidates for the LASIK procedure.

Implantable lenses are not permanent like the LASIK procedure, and as such, will require careful monitoring from a vision specialist. However, because the lens is interchangeable, the health of the eye is kept intact.

If you suffer from myopia and want to explore either the LASIK procedure or implantable lenses to correct your vision, contact a LASIK center today. You will be assessed as to which correction is best for you, and you can be on your way to seeing better without glasses!
