How long does the LASIK surgery take?
The LASIK Eye Surgery procedure is quite easy and takes very little time at all. Perhaps this is one of the reasons this vision correction surgery is appealing to so many people - they know it's going to be easy, effective, and relatively painless - in more ways than one!
The actual procedure only takes 5-10 minutes from beginning to end, and patients are kept as comfortable as possible for the duration of this period. On the day of your procedure, you may be asked to be there about 1 hour before your scheduled surgery, as it will take some time for you to check in and speak with the surgeon before your procedure. Additionally, some surgeons like to give certain patients a mild sedative prior to the procedure to reduce anxiety and calm nerves.
Keep in mind that while the procedure is easy as pie, there are some other appointments associated with the procedure. You probably want to interview a few surgeons prior to the procedure, so that will take up some time. Once you settle on a surgeon, you'll have to have the official consultation that will determine if you're a good candidate, and prepare for the actual surgery. Once the surgery is complete you may have another 1-2 follow-up appointments, depending on your individual results. However, overall the whole process is easy and you will hardly miss any work at all!
